Dark skies are important to animal migration, human health, and astronomy. Come learn how you can dim your lights in April and May to help migrating birds and enjoy star gazing. Check out the Dark Skies page to see how you can help.

Telescopes and astronomy interpretation provided by the North Shore Amateur Astronomy Club. Rain date: April 20.

Program starts at 7:30 with program on Dimming the Lights for migratory birds. Refuge gate will close at 7:50. Astronomy viewing will start about 7:45 with Venus and Mars. Once it gets dark (~8:15), we'll be able to observe star clusters, nebulas, and galaxies.

Please register so that we can provide enough telescopes. Meet at Maintenance Buildings at Parker River National Wildlife Refuge (2 miles and 15 minutes past Gatehouse). Your eyes needs time to adapt to darkness, so please no flashlights around the observation area and no light up shoes or clothing.
